About Shrieking Tree

Shrieking Tree is a small, Des Moines-based design and publishing company, started by Justin Norman in 2004 as the moniker for his web and print projects. Since then it has become known as the name behind many sites, including those for The Books, a Massachusetts-based electronic folk band, Unwed Sailor, a popular instrumental rock group from Arkansas, and Hi-Fructose magazine.

From a Growing Community, Iowa's Homeless Youth marks the company's biggest print project to date, and its first effort in book design and publishing. Danny Heggen joined Justin and his brother, Wesley, in late 2008, expanding the vision of Shrieking Tree dramatically. The team has now sold over 1,500 copies of the book and raised more than $6,500 for Youth & Shelter Services and Iowa Homeless Youth Centers in Des Moines, Iowa.
